 Choose natural fibres

Keeping snug starts with choosing natural warming fibres that will see you through the day.

Ensuring warmth with breathability, natural fibres will provide cosiness against the skin. This is especially relevant for your feet where circulation can be affected on a particularly cold day.  A plush boot lining or sock made of natural fibres will ensure a snug interior against the elements and optimum foot health. We love to wear merino or cashmere socks in boots, for those ultra-chilly days! 

Adopt the art of layering

We all know that New Zealand winters can be a little up and down – at times starting with chilly mornings that significantly warm up during the day. 

Our bodies are also often subject to the contrasting temperatures of cool outdoors and cosy interiors. Layering well allows you to adjust to all conditions and, we say - why not make a feature out of the necessity and play with texture, pattern and print? You might surprise yourself with the sophistication gained from simply adding a visible cable knit sock to your ankle boot, or draping a cashmere sweater over your shoulders.

Warm linings make all the difference

A plush lining inside boots will create warm pockets of air that provide wonderful insulation on those very cold days.

Linings can be subtle, creating a lovely softness against your foot that only you will know, or let the added decorative elegance of a visible faux-fur or shearling elevate your entire outfit.

Stay dry with waterproof lining

Quality and durability in footwear makes a particular difference during the winter months, so it’s well worth it to invest in pieces that are practical for everything the day delivers. On rainy days, a style with a waterproof lining will ensure your feet are kept dry and warm all day. 

For added protection and longevity of your beautiful shoes, we recommend waterproofing the exterior of your footwear, too, with a high quality protective spray.
